Terms of use

Last updated: July 3, 2026

Version informative — la version française fait foi.(Informative translation — the French version prevails.)

These terms are written to be read. They govern the use of the Sereno application and website.

1. The service

Sereno is a manual-entry personal budgeting application. It works without an account (data stored locally on your device) and offers an optional free account for syncing across devices.

2. Free of charge

The service is currently free, with no ads and no commercial use of your data. If a paid tier ever appears, it will be announced clearly in advance and will not retroactively affect the free features you already use for your existing data.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential. Let us know promptly about any unauthorized use of your account. The minimum age for using the service with an account is 15.

4. Your data

The data you enter belongs to you, entirely. You can export it at any time (full backup, CSV export) and request the deletion of your account and all its data (see the privacy policy).

5. Not financial advice

Sereno displays totals, breakdowns and projections computed from what you enter. These are readability tools, not financial, tax or investment advice. Your decisions remain your own.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to attempt to compromise the service: no unauthorized access to other users' data, no deliberate overloading of the infrastructure, no unlawful use.

7. Availability and changes

Sereno is an independent project provided “as is”. We do our best to keep the service reliable and available, without being able to guarantee it 100%. Features may evolve; in the event of a major change or discontinuation of the sync service, reasonable notice will be given along with the means to export your data. Local mode depends on no server at all.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the publisher cannot be held liable for indirect damages resulting from the use of the service, including local data loss — think about backups. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first; failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction.
